Rest is a fundamental part of God's intended order.

1. Rest as Divine Order: God established rhythms of rest from the very beginning. Nightly sleep and the weekly Sabbath (Genesis 2:2-3) are holy ordinances for our renewal and a declaration that God is in control, even when we are not working.

2. The Enemy's Tactical Attack on Rest: The "enemy attack on the 7th day" or at "rest time" is a violation of this sacred order. Satan's strategy is to:

   · Invade our peace with anxiety, fear, and temptation when we are most vulnerable or at peace.

   · Shatter our trust in God's provision and protection.

   · Corrupt the sanctuary that rest is meant to be.

3. Christ as the Fulfillment of Rest: This is the core of the Gospel answer to the problem. Jesus did not abolish the need for rest; He transformed and fulfilled its meaning.

   · He is the Lord of the Sabbath (Matthew 12:8), showing its true purpose is mercy and restoration, not just legalistic rule-keeping.

   · His work on the cross disarmed the powers and authorities (Colossians 2:15), triumphing over the enemy publicly.

   · He offers the ultimate rest—not from physical labor, but from the spiritual labor of striving to save ourselves and fighting a defeated foe. As you said, "we no longer have to deal with the devil ever again" in the same way. He is a defeated enemy.

This is the "rest" that the writer of Hebrews speaks of:

"There remains, then, a Sabbath-rest for the people of God; for anyone who enters God’s rest also rests from their works, just as God did from his." (Hebrews 4:9-10)

In summary:

The enemy's ancient tactic is to attack God's people in their rest, disrupting God's order. But Christ's victory secures a permanent, spiritual rest for us. The warfare is not over, but the war has been won. Our Sabbath, our nightly peace, and our daily walk can now be lived out in the confident reality that the one who attacks our rest has already been decisively defeated by our Savior.

We rest in His victory, and from the power of the enemy.
