1. Fear – Rather Do not cling to your own life.

· Bible Verse: Revelation 12:11 (ESV) - "They have conquered him by the blood of the Lamb and by the word of their testimony, for they loved not their lives even unto death."

2. Doubt – Rather Do not trust your own understanding.

· Bible Verse: Proverbs 3:5 (ESV) - "Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and do not lean on your own understanding."

3. Desire – Rather Always say, 'If the Lord wills.'

· Bible Verse: James 4:15 (ESV) - "Instead you ought to say, 'If the Lord wills, we will live and do this or that.'"

4. Uncrucify ego – Rather Crucify your ego 

· Bible Verse: Galatians 2:20 (ESV) - "I have been crucified with Christ. It is no longer I who live, but Christ who lives in me. And the life I now live in the flesh I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave himself for me."

5. The Desire to Please – Rather seek the approval of God, not man.

· Bible Verse: Galatians 1:10 (ESV) - "For am I now seeking the approval of man, or of God? Or am I trying to please man? If I were still trying to please man, I would not be a servant of Christ."

6. Desire of the flesh/eyes– Rather Be hard to impress; a person who pleases God listens to His voice.

· Bible Verse: 1 John 2:16 (ESV) - "For all that is in the world—the desires of the flesh and the desires of the eyes and pride of life—is not from the Father but is from the world."

7. Image – Rather Destroy your own image so you have nothing to protect.

· Bible Verse: John 12:24-25 (ESV) - "Truly, truly, I say to you, unless a grain of wheat falls into the earth and dies, it remains alone; but if it dies, it bears much fruit. Whoever loves his life loses it, and whoever hates his life in this world will keep it for eternal life."

8. Lack of wisdom – Rather Love instruction and pursue wisdom.

· Bible Verse: Proverbs 19:20 (ESV) - "Listen to advice and accept instruction, that you may gain wisdom in the future."

9. Suffering – Rather Find true wealth in the deepest trials, for suffering produces glory.

· Bible Verse: Romans 5:3-4 (ESV) - "Not only that, but we rejoice in our sufferings, knowing that suffering produces endurance, and endurance produces character, and character produces hope."
